The City of Santa Cruz Resource Recovery Division of Public Works seeks a Waste Reduction Assistant. You'll join a fun team of dedicated individuals who provide education and outreach to residential and business customers on ways to reduce waste, recycle responsibly, and comply with local and state policies regarding Waste management. This fast-paced role provides an opportunity to let your skills in customer service, public presentations, strategic thinking, and content creation shine and allows for abundant learning opportunities. Under general supervision, the Waste Reduction Assistant assists in the planning, organization, publicizing and conducting of public education and promotional programs for waste reduction, recycling, household hazardous waste disposal, pollution prevention and related areas; works with staff and the public to assist them in identifying waste reduction and recycling problems and opportunities; and performs other related work as assigned. The minimum qualifications for this position are a high school diploma or tested equivalent; experience providing public information and/or public education; and a valid California driver`s license.
