The City of Santa Cruz is seeking Senior Water Distribution Operators in the Water Department. Under general supervision, the Senior Water Distribution Operator performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled assignments, in the construction, maintenance, and repair of City water distribution systems, streets and sidewalks, which require the application of advanced skill or specialized knowledge of techniques, tools, and specialized equipment. This classification works independently or as a member of a crew, and acts as a crew leader, as assigned and performs on-call duty assignment and call-back work as required. Minimum requirements include a High School diploma or tested equivalent, two (2) years of operator experience working as a certified Water Distribution Operator, and a D3 Water Distribution Operator certificate issued by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB). A valid California Restricted Automatic class A driver's license with tanker, 5th wheel and air brake endorsements OR A California Unrestricted Class A drivers` license is also required. A DMV printout must be submitted at the time of application.
