We are a small, locally-owned investment management firm that is looking for a young professional to join our firm. Perhaps you, or one of your adult kids, are returning to the area after college and would like to consider a career on the Monterey Peninsula.

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Investment Analyst / Equity Research Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role involves conducting in-depth financial analysis, evaluating investment opportunities, and providing strategic insights to support our investment decisions. The ideal candidate will possess strong research skills and a solid understanding of financial markets. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of our investment portfolio while working in a collaborative and innovative environment.

It is an office position that starts at 7:30 a.m.

Duties

• Conduct comprehensive equity research by analyzing financial statements, market trends, and industry data
• Develop detailed financial models to forecast company performance and valuation metrics
• Evaluate potential investment opportunities through qualitative and quantitative analysis
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and clients
• Monitor market developments, economic indicators, and relevant news that could impact investments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate insights from specialized fields such as animal physiology and quantum engineering into investment strategies
• Assist in the development of investment theses and risk assessments
• Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting financial markets and investment practices

Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA) are a plus
• Proven experience in equity research, financial analysis, or investment banking preferred
• Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and market analysis
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presenting findings
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
