The Director of Advancement Outreach & Growth has broad responsibility for growing the number of MHA supporters, primarily via our summer youth camp constituency (Redwood Camp & Ponderosa Lodge) and non-summer youth conferences, as well as the Neighborhood Day-Camp Program, in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values
Collaborate with the Vice President of Advancement and the entire Advancement Team in preparing a detailed action plan and works creatively to meet or exceed specific, agreed upon funding goals.
Collaborate with the Vice President of Advancement in establishing and executing short and long-range strategies for increasing MHA’s donor family from appx 2500 to 4000+.
Engage youth camper parents on check-in and checkout days at Redwood Camp and Ponderosa Lodge during the summer, as well as Fall Frenzies, Jr. Getaways, Parent/Child Retreats and the check-in and checkout days at Neighborhood Day Camps throughout the Bay Area.
Identify and connect with existing MHA Donors, Associates and Alum. to cultivate ministry partnerships and support. Create individual written plans designed to move each relationship in measurably deeper ways.
Identify, cultivate and steward major gift prospects and donors, thus building a strong pipeline of future gifts while meeting short-term goals.
Identify constituents who would be willing to serve as regional volunteer leaders for future MHA events in their area.
Creatively respond to the ministry’s changing needs in the area of Advancement.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
This position will direct the work of our office administrator in specific areas as well as volunteers in specific Advancement related projects.

Bachelor’s degree is required with an advanced degree considered a significant benefit.
Minimum of two years working in the field of Advancement/Development.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work on a very collaborative, fast-paced, and opportunistic ministry team.
Ability to be a “self-starter” with the high energy needed for discovery calls designed to grow our donor family.
Ability to gain the respect and support of various constituencies: existing and potential new donors, alum of all ages, Board members and staff.
Excellent networking skills.
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, and driving long distances. Requires the ability to see and hear.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record in the last three years.

Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
