Technical Writer (Full Time Employee or Part Time Contractor)

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to produce technical documentation for our award winning, multi-patented security solutions. We will consider either/or Full Time Employee or Part Time Contractor as suits you best.

We’re actually doing something a lot different in the Security space! To date, we have a dozen awards, 30 patents, more than $45 Million in VC and customers drawn from the World’s largest and most advanced security organizations to prove it. Bastille provides full visibility into the known and unknown cellular, mobile, wireless and Internet of Things (IoT) devices inside an organization’s airspace – together known as the Internet of Radios. We have expanded the traditional markets of Wireless Intrusion Detection (WIDS) and WIPS to include cellular devices. Bastille is the only company that can accurately detect and locate cell phones using just their cellular signals.

Through its patented software-defined radio and machine learning technology, Bastille senses, identifies, and localizes threats, providing security teams the ability to accurately quantify risk and mitigate airborne threats that could pose a danger to their agency, their network infrastructure, and/or their personnel.

The Technical Writer can be based anywhere in the broad San Francisco Bay Area or Central Coast as long as they can visit the San Francisco office one day per week (likely for between 2 and 6 hours) to work with the Development Team. Overall, the Technical Writer is expected to work Full Time or around 20 hours a week if a Part Time Contractor. (We are looking to find a great technical writer and we will accommodate how you want to work with us).


  • Work with development teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements to produce:
  • End user manuals
  • Administrator manuals
  • Installation and troubleshooting manuals
  • API documentation
  • Produce diagrams for
  • system architecture
  • Installation setup
  • Network configuration
  • Draft, proof and finalize documents


  • Markdown, HTML, CSS or similar document formats
  • JSON experience and familiarity
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and diagrams
  • Produce documents for different audiences, such as end users, developers and system administrators
  • SF Bay Area
  • Full Time or Approximately 20 hours a week if a Part Time Contractor.
  • Either role requires a minimum of 2-6 hours a week onsite in SF office


  • Experience with API documentation (OpenAPI or similar)
  • Experience with Linux and familiarity with network concepts
