Ready to begin training for a new career? The City of Santa Cruz is currently hiring for Utility Maintenance Technician Trainee in the Water Department. The Utility Maintenance Technician Trainee participates in a comprehensive educational and practical coursework program while receiving on the job training under direct supervision of journey level technicians assisting in performing a variety of electrical and mechanical maintenance work in either the Public Works Wastewater Systems division or the Water Department. This position requires a high school diploma or tested equivalent, a high school or college class in Basic Geometry and Basic Algebra, demonstrated aptitude for mechanical or electrical equipment, typically motors and pumps, and a valid California driver’s license.
