Santa Cruz Port District is seeking qualified candidates for the regular, full-time position of Deputy Harbormaster. Under general supervision, Deputy Harbormasters perform law enforcement, safety, security, parking, traffic, marina management and other functions of the District; assures effective enforcement of state and federal regulations, and District policies and procedures. The position is a fully armed, sworn peace officer position.
THE COMMUNITY AND PORT DISTRICT
Santa Cruz Port District is an independent special district government responsible for the administration and operation of Santa Cruz Harbor, located 70 miles south of San Francisco and 35 miles north of Monterey. Santa Cruz Harbor provides permanent moorage for approximately 1,200 wet-berthed and 275 dry-stored vessels and offers both residents and visitors access to a variety of recreational and commercial opportunities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND one year of experience in marine equipment operations; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid California State Driver`s License is required. State of California POST PC 832 course-training certificate must be obtained within six months of date of appointment. Completion of first aid, CPR, and Basic Boating training required within 12 months of date of appointment. Employment is subject to successful completion of psychological evaluation, background check, and comprehensive medical examination, including drug testing.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is $5,372 to $7,199 per month, depending on qualifications.
