The City of Santa Cruz is searching for an exceptional candidate to fill the role of Deputy Water Director/Engineering Manager in the Water Department. The Santa Cruz Water Department provides the community with safe, high-quality water service that protects public health and is essential to everyday life. Under general direction, the Deputy Water Director/Engineering Manager plans, organizes directs and implements all engineering services needed for the maintenance, operation and improvement of the water system serving over 90,000 customers, and oversees the Engineering Division of the Water Department.  Is responsible for the long-range planning for and implementation of the capital investment program including water supply reliability; management of employees; development and control of budgets and development of programs, policies and procedures needed to achieve goals and objectives. The individual in this position is a key member of the Water Department`s leadership team. Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, five years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience, and two years of experience in a supervisory position. Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California and a valid California driver`s license is also required.
