The City of Santa Cruz currently has a vacancy for a Buyer I/II in the Finance Department. Under general supervision, the Buyer I/II promotes the most effective use of City`s funds in the procurement of materials, supplies, services, and equipment for City departments and establishes and manages city-wide purchase contracts and performs related duties as assigned. Minimum requirements for Buyer I are a Bachelor`s degree in business, public administration, marketing, or related field; and one year of experience in public or private purchasing OR five years of experience in public or private purchasing. The Buyer II position, in addition to the Bachelors degree, requires two years of experience in purchasing, one of which must be in the public sector working as a buyer OR six years of experience in purchasing, two of which must be in the public sector working as a buyer. The Finance Department is located in downtown Santa Cruz at 1200 Pacific Avenue, Suite 290.
